Building rhythm and hand speed is just as important as building power. Speed bags for boxing are crafted to help fighters of all levels improve their hand-eye coordination, timing, and shoulder endurance. Unlike heavy bags that absorb massive impact, a speed punching bag is all about the rebound and the flow.
We design our boxing speed bags using premium leather and high-grade synthetic materials. This ensures the bag is lightweight enough for rapid recoil but tough enough to withstand daily sessions. Whether you are setting up a home gym or outfitting a professional studio, our selection of pro speed punching bags offers the consistent performance you need to sharpen your reflexes.
SPEED BAG SIZE GUIDE
Choosing the correct size is critical for your development. A smaller bag moves faster and is harder to hit, while a larger bag is slower and more forgiving.
General Sizing Rules:
- Large (10×7 to 13×10): ideal for beginners. The larger surface area and slower rebound allow you to learn the rhythm and timing without frustration.
- Medium (9×6): The standard for intermediate boxers. It offers a balance of speed and target area, perfect for maintaining a workout pace.
- Small/Extra Small (8×5 to 6×4): Designed for advanced fighters. These are extremely fast and require precision. Use these for high-level speed work.
A good rule of thumb is to start larger to master the technique, then move to a smaller punching bag speed bag as your accuracy improves.
SHIPPING
While they are smaller than heavy equipment, shipping fitness gear still requires care. Because speed bags contain air bladders and specific shapes, we package them securely to prevent compression damage or punctures during transit.
Most speed bags are shipped deflated to ensure the integrity of the internal bladder. Upon arrival, you will need a standard ball pump to inflate your gear to the proper pressure.
HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR SPEED BAG
Proper maintenance ensures your bag keeps its bounce and stays responsive for years.
- Check Air Pressure: Do not over-inflate. The bag should feel firm but have a slight give when you press it with your thumb. Over-inflation can warp the leather or pop the bladder.
- Clean the Surface: Sweat and oils can degrade leather over time. Wipe down your speed punching bag with a damp cloth after every session.
- Inspect the Loop: The loop that connects the bag to the swivel is very frayed. Check it regularly for wear and tear to prevent the bag from flying off during a workout.
TRAINING & SETUP TIPS
To get the most out of your equipment, the setup is just as important as the bag itself.
- Height: The belly (widest part) of the bag should be level with your mouth or chin. This keeps your shoulders elevated and mimics the target zone of an opponent’s head.
- Platform Stability: You need the best speed bag platform possible to minimize vibration. A shaky platform kills the rebound rhythm.
- Mix It Up: While the speed bag is excellent for rhythm, remember to balance your training. Combine speed work with power training on our heavy duty traditional bags to build a complete fighter’s physique.
- Hand Protection: Even though the bag is light, repetitive impact can chafe knuckles. Always use wraps or light bag gloves.
